What to Expect at Your First Hair Consultation
For many people, booking a hair consultation is one of the most vulnerable steps they will take. It means acknowledging something that has quietly affected your confidence for months — sometimes years. We know that. And we want you to know exactly what the appointment involves before you arrive, so there are no surprises.
A HairBrisé consultation is a private, unhurried conversation. It is not a sales pitch. There is no pressure to purchase anything. The goal is simply to understand your situation and show you what is genuinely possible.
Before the Appointment
In-Person or Virtual
We offer both in-person consultations in Marsden Park and virtual video consultations for clients across Australia. Virtual consultations work well for initial conversations and for clients who want to explore options from home before committing to an in-person visit.
What to Bring
- Photos of your hair from different angles (recent and, if available, from before your hair loss began)
- Any previous assessments, diagnoses, or hair loss treatments you have tried
- A rough sense of your lifestyle — how active you are, whether you swim, your typical daily routine
None of this is mandatory. You can come with nothing and we will work from what we observe and discuss.
What Happens During the Consultation
Step 1 — The Conversation
We start by listening. We ask about how long you have been experiencing hair loss, what you have already tried, and what outcome you are hoping for. For some clients the goal is a full, natural hairline. For others it is simply to feel comfortable in photographs again, or to stop wearing a hat every day. Every goal is valid.
We also ask about your lifestyle: how active you are, whether you exercise regularly, whether you swim, and how much time you want to spend on daily maintenance. These details shape every recommendation we make.
Step 2 — The Assessment
We look at your hairline, your remaining hair density, your scalp condition, and your natural hair colour and texture. For patch and topper clients, we assess the coverage area and determine the most natural attachment point. For wig clients, we take head measurements.
We are looking for the specific zone that needs coverage, the density and texture of your remaining hair, and the colour tones that will make a match invisible.
Step 3 — Colour Matching
This is one of the most important parts of the process. We colour-match against your existing hair — not just the dominant shade, but the highlights, the lowlights, the grey distribution, and the way your colour changes from root to tip. An off colour is the most common reason a hair system looks artificial.
Step 4 — Options and Recommendation
We walk you through the options that suit your specific situation — the base type, the attachment method, the hair density, and the style. We explain the differences honestly, including the trade-offs: a thinner base looks more natural but wears faster; liquid adhesive holds longer but requires more care on removal.
If we have a system close to your specifications available, you will be able to try it on. Seeing yourself in a well-fitted, colour-matched system for the first time is, for most people, the moment the decision becomes clear.
Step 5 — Pricing and Timeline
We provide a clear quote before anything is ordered. For in-stock systems, delivery is often same day or within days. For fully customised hair solutions, we give you a realistic production timeline — typically 4–8 weeks.
There is no obligation to proceed. Many clients come to a first consultation, think about it, and return months later when they are ready. We are here whenever that is.
What the Consultation Is Not
- It is not a high-pressure sales environment — we do not work on commission
- It is not a one-size-fits-all experience — every consultation is tailored to your specific situation
- It is not a medical appointment — we do not diagnose the cause of your hair loss, though we can point you toward appropriate specialists if needed
After the Consultation
If you decide to proceed with an order, we provide full fitting instructions, an aftercare guide, and ongoing support by phone or message. If anything feels off with the fit or colour after you get home, we want to know.
If you decide not to proceed, we hope the conversation was still useful. There is no follow-up pressure.
The people who call us most often say the same thing: “I wish I had done this sooner.” We hear it almost every week. Whatever is holding you back, we understand — and we will be here when you are ready.
What We Hear Most at the End of a First Consultation
After hundreds of consultations, the comment we hear most often at the end is some version of: “I wish I had done this sooner.” People spend months — sometimes years — researching, hesitating, or simply avoiding the conversation. The consultation itself almost always takes less than an hour and involves no pressure, no commitment, and no judgement. If you are on the fence, the consultation is the lowest-stakes possible next step.
